KITL Transport (Compact 7)

3/12/2014

Connectivity Manager uses the Kernel Independent Transport Layer (KITL) transport for the default communication between a development computer and a device. The KITL transport operates over the same channel that the kernel debugger uses.

Establishing a KITL Connection

Complete the following steps to connect your development computer to your device by using a KITL connection.

To establish a connection to a device by using the KITL transport

  1. To start Remote Tools Framework, on the Start menu, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Remote Tools Framework 1.10, and then click Microsoft Remote Tools Shell.

  2. On the Connection menu, click Manage Devices.

  3. In the Connectivity Manager Configuration dialog box, expand the node for the device that you want to configure.

  4. Select the device you want, and then click Properties.

  5. In the Device Properties dialog box, in the Transport box, select KITL Transport.

    Note

You can select Show all registered transports to view all the available system registered transports.

  6. In the Startup box, select KITL Bootstrap as a startup server.

    Note

You can select Show all registered bootstraps to view all the available system registered bootstraps.

  7. Test the settings by clicking Test.

  8. Click OK to save your changes.

After configuring the connection between the development computer and the device, from your development computer, start the remote tool that you want to use. For more information, see Connect to a Device with a Remote Tool.
