Segment Trigger Track
The segment trigger track contains commands that trigger the playback of segments and motifs.
Each trigger in the segment trigger track is a reference to an existing segment or motif. The trigger has its own set of properties that control playback without altering the properties of the original file.
There are two ways to use the segment trigger track to control the performance of multiple segments:
- Create one segment to serve as the primary segment with its own data for playback, and then insert secondary segments into its segment trigger track so their playback is layered on top of the primary segment without interrupting its playback. Secondary segments can be positioned to start at specific times during playback of the primary segment, and they contain their own individual settings for playback, including how long to play before stopping, and how many times to loop.
- Create a segment that is completely empty except for a segment trigger track, and play it as a secondary segment to program the playback of other segments. Triggered segments can be either primary or secondary. If you make the empty segment the controlling segment, it controls the tempo of all other segments. See Controlling Segments.
When you enter a trigger in the track, you must select a segment or motif in the Segment/Motif Trigger Properties window. Until you do, the trigger has no effect.
Note Like any other segment, a triggered segment plays correctly only if its instruments have been downloaded to the synthesizer. Applications are responsible for downloading instrument data.
