Chordmap Track

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

The chordmap track contains a single reference to a chordmap that serves as a source for generating chord progressions. When you use the Compose Chords Button on the Signpost Track, or when chords are composed by an application at run time, signpost chords from the chordmap are inserted into the Chord Track of the segment. Any chord paths that accompany the signpost chords in a chordmap are also inserted into the chord track, if they can fit.

For information about creating a chordmap, see Chordmap Designer.

A chordmap track can contain only a single chordmap reference. If you wish to use multiple chordmaps within a single segment, you must create a chordmap track for each chordmap and assign the chordmap tracks to different track groups

For example, if you want to change to a different style in the middle of a segment, it is possible that you would also want to use a different chordmap to provide chords for the style. To do this, you must create two separate track groups that contain both a style track and a chordmap track, so each style can is used only with the appropriate chordmap information. For more information, see Track Groups.

You have the option of using a chordmap for designing the segment only. In the Chordmap Track Properties window, click the Flags Tab, and select Audition (Design) Only. When this option is selected, the chordmap is not saved with the run-time segment file.
