Main Window
The following illustration shows the Microsoft® DirectMusic® Producer application window. The arrangement of the various elements might be different from what you see on your screen.
The project workspace contains some or all of the following elements, depending on what components are open and what view options have been selected:

Displays the components that make up a project.

Includes file management tools and window view controls.

Used to recall the placement of windows at the time the bookmark is set.
Transport Controls (including Tempo box)
Contain buttons for recording and playback.

Contains a combined button and meter for each active PChannel. Each button displays the PChannel number, the name assigned to the PChannel, and a graphic line representing the relative volume level of the PChannel during playback.

Used to set a metronome, a moving cursor for playback, and all playback devices.

Used to select additional segments or motifs to play on top of the component in the Transport list.

Displays statistics for the resources used by DirectMusic Producer.

Used to capture a performance to a file as it plays. In the illustration, this toolbar is shown undocked as a separate window. All toolbars can be undocked. See Rearranging Views.

Enables you to edit an individual component. When you open a component, one of the design modules is launched. Each design module contains its own set of editing tools and methods. Multiple editing windows can be open, and these windows can be resized and arranged.

Displays tips and information about an item on the screen that the mouse points to.
