Segment Tracks
A segment can contain the following track types:
-
Contains settings for PChannels. Bands can be created within Segment Designer, inserted by a style, imported from a MIDI file, or dragged from the project tree.
-
Contains chords you insert or edit with the mouse. You can also use an automatic composing feature for drawing a chord progression from the chordmap in the chordmap track.
-
Contains a chordmap file to generate chord progressions.
-
Contains settings that govern the selection of patterns from a style.
-
Contains text such as lyrics or debugging information. The text is displayed in the Message Window as the segment is played in DirectMusic Producer.
-
Contains markers for appropriate points in the segment where playback of a segment can end, a secondary segments can begin, or a transition to another segment can take place.
-
Contains commands to mute and remap PChannels.
-
Contains curves that control parameters for objects in an audiopath.
-
Contains individual patterns you create within the segment. Each pattern is essentially a sequence that contains variations and takes advantage of style note functionality.
-
Contains one or more programmed script commands that work directly with the DirectMusic run-time components to control playback of performances.
-
Contains triggers for segments or motifs. These trigger playback of segment or motifs in a specific order and with specific start times that you choose.
-
Contains a sequence of imported MIDI data, or MIDI data you enter using the mouse or MIDI recording.
-
Contains markers where signpost chords are to be inserted from the chordmap in the chordmap track.
-
Contains one or more styles that consist of note patterns and other musical information.
-
Contains one or more tempo markings you insert to change the tempo.
-
Contains one or more time signatures. This track is called TimeSig in the DirectMusic Producer user interface.
-
Contains one or more wave sounds.
Tracks can be added to a segment when it is created, or later. The segment can contain multiple tracks of any type. However, some tracks might have no effect. For example, if you add multiple tempo tracks, only the first one you add governs the tempo.
